Welcome to the new world! The WHS comes into being on 2nd November! I am sure it will seem confusing to start with but there is plenty of information about it on the England Golf website. You may find your handicap changes but this should sort itself out over the next few rounds. Any questions please contact Calum or Judith
There have been two sessions of coaching for the juniors with nine young people attending the last. Many thanks to Jim for organising these. The junior notice board will be moved to the corridor so do look for information there.
The club now has a greens committee. Thanks to all who volunteered. There are 5 on the committee, led by John Thorp. They are establishing a routine and have already had a meeting. On Monday mornings John meets up with Doug and Darren to discuss work to be done during the week. This means Darren can keep us all informed if works affect playing conditions. You will have noticed that areas have been roped off to protect the course. Please walk round these areas. It gets particularly wet between the first and 9th green and I have been asked to remind you to return to the clubhouse via the trees or the path and not by the 1st fairway and path.
I start writing the newsletter early and keep adding things. We now know the club house will be have to be closed and there will be no golf for the next month and we would ask you to respect that and not come up and play.
Our plans are for Doug and Arran to continue work over lockdown but other staff will again be furloughed.
Because of current restrictions the EGM will now not take place as planned and the Christmas draw has also been cancelled, but Trish Warner has suggested that we might be able to have an Easter draw instead!
If the AGM is not able to take place as usual in December we expect the current vice captains, who were voted in at last year’s AGM, to take up their new role as captains on the 1st of January and hopefully we will be able to have the AGM as soon as possible in the new year.
During the next month there will be directors in the office for a while each day to make sure everything is fine.
Stay safe
Sue
